Goin Through The Breweries: BLDG 8 Brewing
Welcome back to "Goin Through The Breweries" where we go to the places where all the magic happens. Today, we're going to a still fairly new brewery that specializes with one specific beer: The IPA and this seems to be the place that gets IPA lovers around the area really talking. Before I even went I went to look at some of the comments about this place and people travels many miles just to experience what these guys have been brewing up. Before we begin, here is a little bit of background information
BLDG 8 Brewing was founded by the husband and wife team of Megan and O'Brian Tomalin in September of 2015. It gets its name from the building it had occupied space in, which is an old factory complex in the Florence neighborhood of Northampton. The brewery started with one brew called "The IPA" and immediately became a hit across the region. It contains a 15 barrel system that is capable of producing 30 kegs of beer each session. It has already made it's presence known state side at many statewide brew festivals. Things look pretty good for this place thus far. But now let's get into the review!
Inside The Brewery: Maybe it's just me but it seems some breweries that are located in old factories like to challenge their customers to find where they are because once i got into the parking lot, there wasn't any sort of indicators that the brewery was on the opposite side of the building, I had to ask around where in the complex the building was at first. When you first go in, the taps are front and center ready for you to sample. It's a small room but pretty laid back. The people in there were very nice and knowledgeable. I even got to speak with a guy who was a part time worker who also has a blog himself where he reviews beers and BBQ food recipes On the walls you see painting from local artists. Here is one that I really liked:
Considering I am a big Bowie fan, particularly 70s era Bowie, so I was immediately drawn to it and I think the artist did a pretty good job on this one. Although I do wonder what that is between his nose and upper lip.

The Beers: For this portion, I think I'm gonna need a little assistance....
Overall: For a place that is still in the beginning phases with 3 dependable brews to it's name, it was a good visit. I'm not sure what the future is for them if they want to branch out into different types of beers or stick with IPAs and expand that line. IPAs are still very popular and there will always be a section of beer lovers that will go them for that. For me, I'd say this was a nice visit, just a laid back atmosphere for people who probably stop in after work and want a glass or two of beer before going home. I just wish we got a small tour of the brewery I will give this a ****/*****
